Cobalt inquiry to get underway in Sydney

Trainer Sam Kavanagh will answer charges relating to cobalt and other substances given to his horses at an inquiry in Sydney.

Kavanagh was stood down in May amid the ongoing investigation prompted by Midsummer Sun’s positive test to cobalt and caffeine after he won the Gosford Cup in January.

The trainer has told Racing NSW stewards he paid Flemington Equine Clinic vet Dr Tom Brennan for bottles labelled Vitamin Complex which were later found to contain large amounts of cobalt.
