Gordon sets himself up for Haydock

World traveller Gordon Lord Byron will bid to regain his crown in the Sprint Cup at Haydock following Group One placing in France.

The seven-year-old Irish horse proved he was as good as ever in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville, finishing just a length third to this season’s star sprinter Muhaarar.

The pair could clash again at Haydock on September 5 in a race Gordon Lord Byron won in 2013 and finished second in last year and in 2012.

Gordon Lord Byron’s victories include the 2014 Group One George Ryder Stakes in Sydney.
