Dissident wins Vic Horse of the Year

Multiple Group One winner Dissident will begin his new career at stud this spring with the added honour as Victoria’s Racehorse of the Year.

During his final season on the track, the Peter Moody-trained Dissident won three Group One races, two on his home track at Caulfield.

Dissident was announced a a clear winner on Sunday with 109 votes, 47 ahead of second placegetter Brazen Beau.

There was a much closer battle for the Fred Hoysted Medal for outstanding training performance with Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist’s German trainer Andreas Wohler edging out Aidan O’Brien for the honour.
